SofisTrace - Food Traceability Software

SofisTrace is a food traceability software, that allows to trace products and its attrbutes throught its production process. It is a Web system that maintains a single and centralized record with all elements involved in the process. In this way, consumers, public institutions and other actors in the production chain can use this system to trace each product.

Food traceability systems have begun mandatories in many countries, because multiple reasons: country source label, bio-terrorism, food quality, among others.

Food Traceability

SofisTrace keep track and other information about products from their source (like raw material) to the comercializatio, recording attributes and identification of waw material, elaboratioin, storage and target.

Raw Material: Raw material identification in traceablity process is a key issue to the system. These raw materials are identified through its producer, goegraphical localizatioin, date and source identification.
Elaboration: The process that transforms raw materials into elaborated product is recorded by the system through the identfication of each elaborated product, the process identifictation and the raw materials involved in the process, among others data. This transformation is entered and updated into the system during the process. In this way, others organzations can query the record in real-time.
Storing (Warehousing): Elaborated products, before their comercialization, can be stored in different warehouses, identified by the system.
Comercialization and Export:Each group of product that is comercialized or exported is identified by the product identification and the agent involved in the process, among other data. SofisTrace allows to work with a predefined and habilited agents to perform this process. In this way, importers, consumers, and other people can have guarantees about the product.

Traceability Process

In traceability process, SofisTrace include records about four kind of main activities:

Introduction of a new element into the system.
Transformation of a system traceable element into another different element .
Transport of a traceable element of the system.
Elimination of a traceable element.

Provided that the data is introduced to the system by each involved actor, SofisTrace includes an audit system of the actors and elements of the system. This audit can be performed through random samples of beekeepers and extraction rooms or of specific actors.

Backward Traceability

SofisTrace allows, in this way, backward traceability, from the product identification to the raw materials involved in it. The picture shows this situation. Since a barcode, or data that identified the product, SofisTrace allows to identify the elements involved thru the production chain, including geographical areas. This is fundamental en these cases, where infection focus should implies the isolation of products in this zone. With this register it is possible to solve requirements such as:

Provided the identification of a product, determine the characteristics of the raw materials and of the producers involved.
Provided the identification of a product, determine the geographical area where it belongs and the producers that can be found there. In this way, centers can be determined without jeopardizing the production at a national level.
Determine the geographical areas with an excess of producers or with a shortage of them.
